Secure In Him

In Him is a great thing. I mean in Jesus Christ! This is a very special place to be, and let me tell you why. Ephesians 1: 4 says that those who are in Jesus are; “chosen to be without blame before him in love.” Have you ever been in a situation where something really bad has happen, and someone is looking to see who is to blame. Isn’t it a good feeling it was not you? What a small thing that is before man, but imagine what it would be like to be sought after by God for doing wrong (sin). Those in Jesus have nothing to worry about for they are in Him, safe in Him, In His righteousness.

We are not only safe in Him, we are complete in Him; “And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Colossians 2:10) We are not just cowering shadow figures hiding in the dark corns of Jesus, we are complete. What is it to be complete? It means to be like Jesus.

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:29)

Don’t let anyone fool you, everyone is invited to be in Jesus, the only chosen are those who are in Him. How do you get in Him? It is done just like the Apostle Paul told the Philippian Jailer; “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:34)

Omniscience

...Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8

There seems to be among Christians and Preachers a belief that Jesus will examine only the current state of affairs. To try to make myself clear, I often hear statements like this; “Get right with God, because Jesus could come at anytime.” Then there is the story about a child not getting his room cleaned before mom gets home, as and illustration of Christ coming.

The real problem here is that God is omniscient and knows everything. We seem to think that we can live life carelessly and then get it all cleaned up before we die, or before Jesus returns. This is far from clear thinking, because God knows what you are doing at all times and you will have to answer for it. God is omniscient, which means He knows everything.

We don’t have to emphasis that Jesus could come at anytime, because Jesus knows what we are doing at anytime. The sovereignty of God is not preached or studied very much and as a result many have a wrong thinking about God.

Some will say it does not really matter how live; “I am going to Heaven, because I am saved.” Here again we find a false sense of security. I am not talking about loosing our salvation, but their is a judgement seat of Christ that we will have to stand before.

The book “A Fair Election” explains in greater detail what a Christian faces when he is judged. Jesus’ judgement can be a great blessing or a deep wound of shame.
